Happy 1st Birthday Macy!

We are celebrating Macy's 1st birthday today! We had birthday party 1 (of 2) on Saturday in Edmond and we will celebrate with some of our Texas family this coming Saturday. We did a St. Patrick's Day theme and everyone wore their green. My friend Sada made Macy's shirt and bow and then I made her a green tutu. Katie made her cake and everything turned out just the way I wanted it. My Mom and Nana were here to help get the house ready and I was so thankful for that. (They let me get my 8 mile run in before the party and I really needed those endorphins!) We had a really great time and were so thankful to our friends and family for being there. We are excited to go to Texas this weekend and do it all over again!

Macy seems to do something new everyday. She's walking some - taking 10-12 steps at a time. Her main problem is she tries to run, rather than just getting the walking down. (That's my girl!) She seems to only have one speed and it's fast. She also loves getting into things she's not suppose to and climbing anything she can. Mace is talking some, but not a lot. She's started pointing at things to let us know what she wants. Some of her favorite things right now are eating grapes, goldfish, and cheese. We've also discovered that Macy LOVES pickles and lemons. (I've also discovered that you better hide your pickle on your plate at McAlister's if you don't want to share :) She finally forgave Michael for shaving his beard, but it took about a day and a half. (See last post.) Being outside is one of her favorite things and cries anytime we go back inside. Hope you have a Happy 1st Birthday Macy and we love you!!

I also thought I would share Macy's birth day story since I hadn't yet...Michael and I were sure that Macy would be here early. I started having contractions in early February and the doctor put me on Brethine to stop the contractions. As soon as I went off the Brethine, I thought Macy would be here soon....she wasn't. We went in to be induced on Sunday night, 3.16.08 and Macy finally decided to come late Monday afternoon. When the doctor said it was time, Michael FLIPPED OUT. First, he yelled at me because he couldn't find the camera and thought I misplaced it. (Hmm, I've been in labor all day in the hospital bed. No time for me to hide the camera from you.) He also went out and told our family, "She's a 10 and you can't come in." (They weren't trying to.) In the middle of it all, Dr. Huff looks at Michael and says, "You don't look very good. You need to sit down." Michael, being Mr. tough guy refuses at first and then takes Dr. Huff's stool to sit on because there's not another chair in the room. So, Michael's sitting there, eating my ice chips, looks at me and says, "Wow, I got a little dizzy. I'm so hungry because I haven't had anything to eat since lunch." So I'm thinking, "Really? You poor thing. You haven't eaten since lunch. And here I am feeling sorry for myself because I'm trying to give birth to our baby, it's almost 6 pm and I haven't eaten since YESTERDAY!!" I was not sympathetic. (Kind of like the time Michael compared him having the flu to how I felt after I ran the marathon...not really the same thing.) We laugh about all this now, but it wasn't too funny that day :) Anyway, Macy gave us a scare because the cord was wrapped around her neck and her heart rate was dropping, but everything was ok and she was born at 5:54 pm. She was (and is) gorgeous and our lives will never be the same. I seriously don't know what we would do without her! God has definitely blessed us.

Ok, now for the pictures....here are some pics from the birthday party and today. Our wonderful friend Brandon took pictures for us and I'll post those when I get them. (Thanks Uncle Wee.) Also, my very sweet friend Meredith took some pics at the party as well and some of these are hers - Thank you Mer!! We also want to wish a very Happy 1/2 Birthday to Aunt Melody! :)

(Even Tiger got the memo about wearing green on Saturday!)

First of all, HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, MACY! I can't believe it's been a year already. Second of all, I really like how you always take pictures with Macy and family. It will be so cool for you guys to look back on all of the pictures.

I loved reading your birth story! You were surely blessed with such a beautiful little girl. I only wished we lived closer to get to know her better! The party looked so fun, and what a great idea for the theme! Super cool. Thanks for posting pictures so quick!

Birth story still makes me laugh! What is it with guys? Jeremy freaked out after she was born for a couple days. Remember he carried that suction bulb around all the time cuz he was afraid she was going to choke. Glad you like the pics. I had soooo much fun!!!
